- ID card or passport
- Tickets or booking confirmations, saved offline
- Bank card and some cash
- Travel or health insurance details
- Keys and house instructions for whoever is watching your home

CLOTHES
- Underwear for each day, plus one spare
- Socks for each day
- Two or three tops
- One or two bottoms
- Sleepwear
- A warm layer or jacket
- A rain layer if the forecast says so
- Comfortable shoes for walking
- One slightly smarter outfit if you plan to go out

TOILETRIES
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Deodorant
- Shampoo and body wash, travel size
- Skincare and sunscreen
- Medication and a small first aid kit
- Hairbrush and hair ties
- Razor and contact lens supplies if you use them

TECH
- Phone and charger
- Power bank
- Earphones
- Travel adapter if you are going abroad
- Camera if you do not rely on your phone

BAG AND SMALL EXTRAS
- Reusable water bottle
- Snacks for the journey
- Book, e-reader or downloaded shows
- Small bag for daily outings
- Bag for dirty laundry

BEFORE YOU LEAVE HOME
- Check the weather forecast
- Take out the rubbish and empty the fridge of perishables
- Close windows and turn off appliances
- Lock the door and check you have your keys
